Childcare gets recruitment makeover

Leaving school, deciding what to study or where to work is a whole new bag of decisions. But have you ever thought about working with children? πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ

The Scottish Government has launched a new campaign encouraging more school leavers to consider a career in early learning and childcare. It is hoped the campaign will encourage 11,000 people into childcare – a career that is rewarding and integral to developing the lives of young children.

Recruitment programme Shape their Worlds, Shape your Career has its own website and will be advertised heavily across digital channels, social media and even in cinemas. After all, there is more to childcare than glitter painting and going to the play park.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says: β€œWorking in this profession is hugely rewarding as it makes a real difference to children’s lives, developing their skills and preparing them for school.

β€œWe want more people to consider a career in nursery education and childcare and this campaign will highlight the range of jobs and opportunities available.”

Childcare comes in various forms with many colleges offering courses and qualifications in the field. You could be at the forefront of helping children grow, develop and learn – this could be the career path for you.
