Let’s go to the movies… February 2018

It’s a miserable Scottish February, so what better time to spend our weekends at the movies! We’ve rounded up some of the most exciting flicks to hit the big screen this month.

Den of Thieves

2 February

Gerard Butler is back with this gritty crime saga. Following the lives of an elite unit part of the LA County Sheriff’s Department who try to bring the criminals behind the state’s most successful bank robberies to justice. An action-packed start to February with what is sure to be yet another classic with Gerard Butler’s dodgy American accent.

Winchester

2 February

If you loved The Woman in Black then you’re going to love Winchester. Dame Helen Mirren gets her Victorian goth on as Sarah Winchester, a firearms heiress, who believes she is being haunted. Who is she being haunted by? Well, all the souls of people killed by the Winchester rifle – talk about stressful. Sure to be a spooky ride, made even spookier at the fact the film was made in the most haunted house in the world.

Black Panther

13 February

Following on from the events in Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther sees King T’Challa return to a reclusive, yet technologically advanced African nation as the country’s leader. Of course, not everything goes his way and it’s only a matter of time before his position is in danger. Comic book fans rejoice you have another superhero film to devour – it looks set to be action packed.

I, Tonya

23 February

Margot Robbie transforms into competitive ice skater Tonya Harding in this biographical adaptation. Coming from the sticks Tonya didn’t have the grace or glamour that ice skating wanted, only raw natural talent. Going onto gain success, it’s not long before people in Tonya’s past want to bring her down. A dramatic, and sometimes funny tale of the underdog making it to the top.

Dark River

23 February

After the death of her father a woman returns home to a series of events that prove to be harrowing. Returning home for the first time in 15 years, she fights for the farm she believes belongs to her. Dark River is a riveting independent release and will be sure to please drama lovers everywhere.
