Summer Album Must Haves 2013

Daft Punk – Random Access Memories

We’ve been obsessing over Get Lucky since it was first played on the radio and it is definitely our Summer anthem here in Source HQ. With their new album, Random Access Memories, Daft Punk have returned to the music scene after an eight year hiatus and we can’t wait to listen to it whilst chilling in the garden. This album has taken the French disco wizards five years to record in several different cities across the world, and it’s definitely worth the wait. – #willpower

Hashtagging in your album’s name? It could only be eccentric pop sensation We’ve had a listen to his new album and we’ve been really impressed. The tunes are catchy and with appearances from the likes of Miley Cyrus, Chris Brown and Justin Bieber. We’re already obsessing over Scream and Shout with Britney Spears so we’ve got high hopes that this is going to be another road trip essential this summer. Don’t mind the odd lyrics – what else would you expect from Will?

The Great Gatsby – Official Soundtrack

We loved the movie, but we love the soundtrack more. Jay-Z, Beyonce, Florence, Lana Del Rey and Sia all offer something amazing to The Great Gatsby Soundtrack. Beyonce and Andre 3000’s collaboration to bring Amy Winehouse’s song, Back to Black, into the twenties is one of our favourites along with Lana Del Rey’s beautiful Young and Beautiful. It’s a real mixed bag so if you fancy some jazz dancing, a bit of rap and then a weepy sing-a-long, you’ve got the perfect album in The Great Gatsby soundtrack.

Beyonce – Mrs Carter

Positively giddy with excitement for this one, it’s the eagerly anticipated Mrs Carter album from Beyonce. With no confirmed release date, all we can do is wait to hear more through the musical grapevine. With her incredible performance at the Super Bowl half time show a few months ago and her ongoing tour, there really is nothing the woman can’t do. There are rumours the likes of Rhianna, Lady Gaga, her own hubby and Azealia Banks will appear on the new album so we’re going to keep our ears close to the ground and await further information!

Kanye West – ???

There’s a rumour he’s calling his album ‘Yeezus’ but apart from that, it’s all very hush-hush on Kanye West’s new album. With no release date confirmed, we can’t help but feel very curious regarding his latest musical offering. With hits like Stronger, All of the Lights and Gold Digger, we’re eagerly anticipating what’s next from Kanye. There’s also a rumour that the guys from Daft Punk will make an appearance on Mr West’s album.
