Celebrity Odd Jobs and A-Grade A-listers

As we sit through yet another long science lesson, dreaming about a distant world of stardom, it’s easy to dismiss those dreams as unachievable… but should you? We take a sneak peek into the previous careers and university courses undertaken by celebrities before they found fame.

Odd Jobs

As we watch our favourite celebs performing their new singles on stage or strutting their stuff on the red carpet, it’s difficult to imagine what life was like for them before fame, but let us fill you in on some celeb career secrets. One Direction heart throb Harry Styles previously worked in his local bakery – a far cry from performing in amazing venues around the world to thousands of screaming girls. Other weird celebrity jobs include Hugh Jackman’s stint as a party clown, Megan Fox dressing as a banana mascot for a smoothie company and Johnny Depp’s escapades as a pen salesman.

Celebrity Drop Outs

Many students believe that success in university is the be all and end all but many famous faces have proved this isn’t always the case. Ellie Goulding, for example, studied drama at the University of Kent before dropping out to pursue a career in music. Surprisingly, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg dropped out of a degree at the prestigious Harvard University and is now worth around $15 billion. Fashion designer Ralph Lauren, witty funny man Stephen Fry, satirical writer Charlie Brooker, hunky actor Matt Damon and late Apple owner Steve Jobs all join Ellie and Mark on the celebrity drop out band wagon.

Strange Studies

Of those celebs who did complete their degrees at university – many are not what you might have been expected. TV funny man Harry Hill initially studied at St George’s Medical School in England before becoming a doctor in his early twenties. You might not believe us but we promise you that controversial but hilarious Sasha Baron Cohen actually studied history at none other than Cambridge University. A far cry from causing havoc playing Borat! Coldplay front man, Chris Martin weirdly studied Ancient World Studies at University College London. Who would have thought?

A-Grade Students

It’s no secret that Emma Watson is a real life top swot with her degree in Arts and Literature from Brown University, but are there any other A-grade A-listers we don’t know about? High school dropout and film maker, Quentin Tarantino has an incredible IQ of 160 and Hollywood beauty Natalie Portman, as well as speaking four different languages, graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Psychology. Adding to the list, pop star Shakira speaks five languages and has an impressive IQ of 140.

So before you weep into your textbooks, or feel like you’re stuck in a rut in your university course – just think of the celebs who have seen and done it all already!
