Best Things To Do In Scotland’s Two Days Of Summer

The sun’s finally out, so it’s time to make the most of Scottish summer while it’s here.

If you’re bored of lying down in a patch of sun at the park, here’s a few alternatives.

Camping

Although not blessed with great weather all year round, Scotland is blessed with amazing camping spots.

From Glen Etive to Loch Lomond, Dumfries and Galloway to the islands, there are hundreds of great places to pitch a tent and have a night in the countryside with your friends.

Remember : if heading into the wild, always clean up after yourself. No-one wants to litter the lovely Scottish hills with party debris. And don’t start any fires, unless in a designated fireplace.

Wakeboarding

The prospect of falling in the Port Dundas Canal in colder months – even with a wet suit on – isn’t as appealing as jumping in on a gloriously sunny day.

Glasgow Wake Park is slap bang in Glasgow’w city centre and is a great place to get involved in an adrenaline-fuelled water sport. Wakeboarding is similar to skateboarding and water-skiing, combined in one exciting and fast-paced sport.

Qualified coaches teach you how to board, so you don’t have to worry about being a complete beginner.

Don’t live near Glasgow? Check out local sailing centres in your area for opportunities to try wake boarding out.

Beach Trips

It’s maybe not bikini weather, but Scotland’s beaches are still spectacular when the sun’s out.

Down in Dumfries and Galloway, Mossyard is a great hidden beach with beautiful views.

Perfect for a wee barbecue in the sun.

Tennis

Wimbledon fever is still lingering, the sun’s come out – it’s time to head down to your local court and give it your best Andy or Serena.

You don’t have to be a member of a private club – check out opportunities in your area online.

Photography

Sunshine makes everything look better, so if you’re a budding photographer now is a great time to get out with the camera and make the most of the good weather.

Even if your photography skills don’t extend beyond your iPhone, summer snaps for Instagram will look all the better with a little sunlight.
