Last Saturday (29 September), Glasgow’s largest multi-venue music festival hit the town.
Tenement Trail 2018 brought over 60 bands to ten of Glasgow’s best city centre music venues. This was the biggest year yet for the festival, which launched in 2013.
Starting at 12pm, until the small hours in the morning, Tenement Trail 2018 aimed to celebrate local talent and showcase some of the best small bands in the business. It is hoped that everyone who attended will find something they love, and discover the next new talent.
LINE UP
This year, famous English indie band The Cribs headlined the event at Garage on Sauchiehall Street. The band, from Wakefield, have been on the indie scene for over ten years, and their last four albums have charted in the UK top ten. At the end of their set, the band announced that it would be their last gig for a while, and they’d be taking some time out of the spotlight to figure out what they’d be doing next.
Venues taking place this year included King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, Firewater, Broadcast, Nice N Sleazy and Garage. A wide range of artists performed across the venues, including The Van T’s, Indigo Velvet, Liza Anne, The Vignettes and Honeyvale.
The event brought people to the city centre’s most intimate venues, giving local bands a platform to perform on, and gain more of a following. If you’re looking for something new to listen to, head to the Tenement Trail Twitter for some inspiration.
