Advent calendars at the ready! Glasgow Science Centre is sledging towards Christmas with Science Lates: Winter Wonderland on Friday 29 November.
No children are allowed for this after-hours festive evening, where there will be chocolate-dipped treats, mulled wine and the wonderful NHS Glasgow Hospital staff choir performing all your favourite Christmas songs.
With the atmosphere of an outdoor Christmas market, but with the comfort of indoors, get all of your Christmas shopping done before December hits and explore top notch makers, artists, producers, independent retailers and pick up some beautiful gifts as Urban Market Glasgow comes to Glasgow Science Centre for the night.
For those that have been good this year, there will be live science and planetarium shows that explain the very “real” and “valid” science of Christmas- from discovering how the big man makes it all around the world in one night, to the fundamental physics that enable reindeer to fly.
You can then gallop along to the green screen lounge area where you can pose for your own ‘awkward family photo’ that you can share with your family and friends or to the café where a variety of Christmas treats and cocktails will await you to warm your bellies.
Then mix up your own drinkable DNA Daiquiri’s in a hands-on science cocktail workshop or put a personal touch on your gift giving by creating your own Christmas cards at the lino-printing workshop with artist Graham Park.
And for those that have been naughty, well… if you come along, a good word can be put in for you with the big man in red and you may get more than lumps of coal come December 25!
If that doesn’t fill you with Christmas cheer, there’ll always be the HMV silent disco where you can listen along to your favourite festive tunes!
