Christmas Beauty Trends

Christmas is less than three weeks away (!) and if you’ve been too busy buying presents for your loved ones to treat yourselves to this year’s Christmas beauty trends, don’t fret! We’re here to show you the must have looks to make sure you look your best this festive season.

STRONG EYEBROWS

It’s the trend that won’t quit! Ever since Cara Delevingne’s rapid rise to fame, no face has been complete without long, thick eyebrows. However, make you sure you don’t go overboard with a full-on Scouse brow. Add a little colour and definition to your brows with a powder or pencil product: people who already have dark eyebrows should use product close to their natural colour and for those who are fairer, use product one or two (at the most!) shades darker. Rimmel’s professional eyebrow pencil (£2.99, feelunique.com) has a flat brush that easily blurs away any harsh lines for a natural finish.

Wine coloured lips are always bang on trend this time of year. Go all out with a rich, glossy colour or try out this year’s twist on the look with a matte, stained lip. To achieve the quirky look just apply a dark lip stain and blot away any shine. Topshop does an amazing shiny lip-colour in shade ‘Wicked’ (£8, Topshop) that lasts for hours or if you’re looking for a stain, try Revlon’s Just Bitten balm stains (£7.99, Boots) If you’re not feeling brave this Christmas day a rosey or nude lip with heavier eyes always goes down a treat.

METALLIC EYESHADOW

Who would have thought metallic eyeshadow would live past its Steps/ S Club 7 heyday?! Continuing the 90s fashion revival, metallic is the trend to sport on your eyelids this festive season. Bronze, silver and gold are a great way to ease into this look and are also perfect for Christmas. If you want to take it further, try deep plums, crimsons and turquoises to make your peepers daring and unique. Add a slick of liquid eyeliner and you’re ready to take any New Year’s Eve outfit to the next level. Maybelline has a range of metallic cream eyeshadows in shades from silver to electric blue. The Eyestudio Color Tattoo eyeshadow (£4.99, Boots) claims to last for 24 hours!

LIQUID EYELINER

GlamEyesLiquidLiner

Does liquid eyeliner ever go out of style? Whether you go for a thin, subtle line or a prefer a 60s flick, liquid eyeliner goes with every other trend on our list! It may take a while to get it right but once you have it mastered – it will be your new make-up bag essential. Rimmel’s Glam’Eyes eyeliner is without a doubt the best on the market and at £5.29 (Superdrug), who can say no?

NAILS

There’s never been a better time to return to the classic nail shade: red. A really easy way to feel a bit more glamorous on Christmas morning, and with the range of shades available you’re guaranteed to find one to match your lipstick perfectly! Another shade that’s hot for winter is gothic black. Dark colours look great for the dark nights of winter and go with any outfit. Barry M do a huge range of colours (the Black Red is amazing) at just £2.99 a bottle (Tesco), or, if you want to treat yourself, OPI is a brand used by salon professionals. Their colors are £11.50 a bottle (Debenhams) but the nail polish is practically chip-proof! Maybe if you ask Santa nicely…
