It’s here! One of the most hotly-anticipated films of 2015, Pitch Perfect returns with Pitch Perfect 2; cue more hilarious one liners, “aca-awkward” comments and spine-tingling voice-only pop covers following its success in 2012.
In the sequel, the eight-girl a capella group, The Bellas, are aiming to regain their status after a humiliating performance in front of the president of the United States of America, by winning an international competition no American group has ever won before.
But before you rush down to your local cinema to get hooked, here are five facts you didn’t know about all things Pitch Perfect…
- Real a capella groups were used during filming, including American super-group Pentatonix.
- Pitch Perfect’s writer Kay Cannon plays a news reporter after Fat Amy (actress Rebel Wilson) accidently flashes the president.
- When coming to a big decision during Pitch Perfect 2, Chloe tells the group to sing G sharp if they agree, or A flat if they don’t. In musical notation, these are the exact same note!
- Rebel Wilson was once a Youth Ambassador stationed in South Africa. While in the country, she ended up in intensive care after contracting malaria. In hospital, she hallucinated believing that she won as Oscar and left with the desire to act!
- When writers Elizabeth Banks and Kay Cannon pitched the movie to Universal, they discovered they weren’t the only a cappella script being pushed. Thinking on the spot, the two boosted their presentation to include harmonicas and sang extremely high notes. Universal were impressed and their script was accepted!
Pitch Perfect is out today, 15 May, and available at most major cinemas UK-wide. For more info on the film, visit www.pitchperfect2.co.uk
