Sometimes just one song can bring back memories of summers past. Rather Be by Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne stirs up a comforting nostalgia in me of warm days walking to and from work in Stirling, while whole albums can recall a host of recollections, with the Chili Peppers’ Stadium Arcadium reminding me of my first job making sandwiches in a kitchen.
We’ve selected some of the most anticipated summer releases of 2015, so that no matter how you remember this season, you’ll definitely have some good tunes to recall.

Carly Rae Jepsen – Emotion
23 June pre-order, August 21 on Schoolboy Records/Interscope
It’s hard to believe that the Canadian’s breakthrough song Call Me Maybe will be four years old this year. And it’s even harder to believe that Emotion will be 29-year-old Carly’s third album after Tug of War in 2008 and Kiss in 2012. Her latest offering includes the singalong I Really Like You, and was co-written with some massive producers including Sia, Ariel Rechtshaid (who’s written for the likes of Vampire Weekend and Madonna) and Mattman & Robin (composed for Taylor Swift).

Years and Years – Communion
10 July on Polydor Records
Pop-synth trio Years and Years are having a great year, having already won the prestigious BBC Sound of 2015 and had hits with infectious singles Desire and King. With a brave, chilled electronic feel that takes you by surprise, Communion is expected to be one of the most popular albums this year.

The Chemical Brothers – Born In The Echoes
17 July on Virgin EMI
It’s been five years since Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons released Further, although we’ll give them credit for creating music for the Velodrome at the London 2012 Olympics. Born In The Echoes is traditionally CB-sounding, although the Brothers always seem to pull something fresh out of the bag.

Jess Glynne – I Cry When I Laugh
14 August on Atlantic
The pop world’s favourite redhead, Jess Glynne’s debut album I Cry When I Laugh will be reaching our ears this August. It’s been a long time coming for Jess, having collaborated with the likes of Clean Bandit and Tinie Tempah. You’ll find yourself singing along to hits Hold My Hand, Real Love and the other big pop hits for the flame-haired singer.

The Fratellis – Eyes Wide Open, Tongue Tied
21 August on Cooking Vinyl
The Scottish rockers are going back to their roots, having again called upon Tony Hoffer, who produced their first album Costello Music, for their latest 11-track offering. Eyes Wide Open, Tongue Tied, truly exemplifies what The Fratellis do when they’re at their best – fun energetic hits. From the foot stomping Baby Don’t You Lie To Me! to the riffs of Getting Surreal, the record is destined for the live arena.
