East Lothian school to be transformed into Hogwarts

Calling all muggles, the event you have been waiting for is finally here!

Harry Potter fans who always dreamed of being able to go to Hogwarts can rejoice as a school in East Lothian will be transformed into the wizard school this summer. The event being held at Loretto in Musselburgh on 3-5 August at the school’s Pinkie campus will include visits from actors and props from the film series, as well as events including Quidditch, costume competitions and live stage shows.

You can put your Expelliarmus skills to the test in the wand duelling classes, and see giant prop builds including platform 9 3/4 and HoneyDukes sweet shop. The Weasley family’s flying car will even put in an appearance! Promising to be a fun-filled, action packed event for adults and children alike, it’s a chance to get into the spirit of using your imagination and getting involved in the wonderful world of reading that JK Rowling’s books have reawakened for so many.

Loretto parent Fiona Quilietti, who organised the event, told the Scotsman: “This is a gathering of fans of all ages who will have the chance to be a part of something very special. The greatest thing these magical books have given us is the power to use our imagination no matter what age we are”. Speaking about the school that gave her the inspiration to hold the event she said:“Driving along past the racecourse everyday, seeing the beautiful gates, looking at the grounds and buildings of Loretto really got my imagination going. Once I was inside, that was it – it was like stepping into the corridors of the wizarding school itself”.

So no matter whether you’re a Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or a Slytherin, bring yourself along to this magical event and immerse yourself in this wonderful world of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
