Fasten your seatbelts, Fast and Furious fans, because spin off Hobbs and Shaw is coming to Glasgow this week.
Not only is a film crew coming to Glasgow to record part of the movie, but accompanying them is none other that Hollywood actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
HOBBS AND SHAW
The film, features The Rock and Jason Statham as the title characters – Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw respectively – an agent and a bad guy teaming up to fight an international terrorist and criminal mastermind (played by Idris Elba – as if this film couldn’t get any better).

The lead characters, who have featured in different Fast and Furious films previously, have become fan favourites, and are an unlikely pair to say the least.
FILMING
Filming is due to begin tomorrow (23 October), with road closures being announced for the full week of filming. It is rumoured that George Square will be the location of a car chase and shoot out.
Rumour has it, filming will bring almost 200 crew members, including stunt people, camera crew, technicians, publicists and actors. And Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Filming is estimated to have brought £300 million to the Glasgow economy.

But this isn’t the first time Glasgow has been used for filming: Brad Pitt filmed World War Z at George Square in 2011, and Halle Berry visited the same year, filming Cloud Atlas. Only last year, Benedict Cumberbatch filmed latest TV hit Patrick Melrose, too.
The film is set to be one of the biggest box office hits of 2019, with a preliminary release date of 2 August.
So if you want to catch some of the action, head down to George Square this week, and you never know – you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of The Rock yourself.
