Last night (20 February), the biggest music event this country has to offer – The BRIT Awards – took place, and it was not to be missed.
The 1975 and Calvin Harris were the big winners of the night, both taking home two awards each.
George Ezra won Best British Male Solo Artist, and Jorja Smith scored the Best British Female Solo Artist title.
Pink was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award, while Ed Sheeran won the Global Success Award.
CONTROVERSY
The night was full of drama, of course. An advert on UKTV’s online catch-up service, UKTV Play, announced The 1975’s win in the two most highly anticipated categories of the night – a full hour before the awards show even started.
Here be the evidence. That’s either a massive marketing cock-up or management for The 1975 somehow knew already… anyway #BRITs fans, spoiler alert, The 1975 win things. pic.twitter.com/teYTmW9Q09

Fans accused the show of being fixed, and The 1975 went on to win the awards for Best British Group and MasterCard British Album of the Year, as the advert said they would.
MAKE UP
Jess Glynne also hit the headlines, after taking her make up off live on stage during a performance of Thursday.

The move was praised by viewers on social media, with many describing it as a moving moment, which empowered many, sending the message that you don’t need to cover up to be beautiful.
HOST
The star of the night, though, was undoubtedly Jack Whitehall, who hosted the ceremony.
Cracking jokes about Baby Shark, Piers Morgan and Dua Lipa’s dad, no topic was off limits. We can’t wait to see if he’ll be invited back next year.
