The professional surfer spoke to Stab magazine about her struggle with the eating disorder from the age of 16. Now 23, Laura believes she recovered two years ago after suffering with bulimia for five years.
Laura credits her time on Love Island to help her become stronger and embrace her athletic physique.
Growing up in a profession that meant her body was constantly on display and the subject of public scrutiny lead her to develop severe body confidence issues.

During the interview Laurs highlighted the dangers of social media and how this can have a negative effect on young girls, something which Instagram is now trying to combat.
By sharing her story she hopes to show people that the glamorous and happy lives we see on Instagram are rarely someone’s reality.
Laura is now one of many reality TV stars who have spoken about mental health after the passing of fellow Love Island star, Sophie Gradon.
