We’re very excited to see the new Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer drop – and it’s a lengthy one. We take a look at what the trailer tells us….
The first Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them finished with Newt and the gang discovering and thwarting Grindelward in New York in 1926. But it wasn’t all sunshine and pumpkin pie – everyone’s favourite muggle, Jake Kowalski, had his memory wiped and Newt was sent home – back to England.

The hotly anticipated sequel, written by JK Rowling herself, is out on the 16th of November and we can’t wait! Not only do we not have books to follow (like the original Harry Potter series), but these films are darker, more adult and bring in new characters – and indeed, beasts – that we’ve never seen before.
Check out the trailer!
Turns out that baddie Grindelwald has escaped. Of course! The chase is on…
We see some familiar faces – Newt Scamander, our eponymous hero, as a student at Hogwarts and as an adult back in the UK. Never able to stay out of trouble, he’s sent on a mission by Dumbledore to Paris, to stop a white-haired Johnny Depp aka Grindelwald. Now, anyone who has read the Harry Potter series knows that there is serious beef between the two of them. Some of the two most powerful wizards ever, Dumbledore and Grindelwald are nemeses, but also were childhood friends and maybe even romantically involved. It all came to a head when Grindelwald’s ideas about wizard supremacy got a bit too intense and in a duel between the two of them, Dumbledore’s only sister, Arianna, died.
Heavy stuff!

Tina and Queenie Goldstein are back – this time in Europe, and so is Jake. Have he and Queenie been reunited? He certainly seems to have got his memories back! We also see Credence is back (didn’t he die?) – time will tell which side he’s on.
There are some new faces, too. Jude Law is young Dumbledore – one of many interesting casting choices – and he’s playing chess with everyone in the war against Grindelwald.
We also meet Nicolas Flamel – Potterheads will remember him from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. He was the creator of the stone – which gives immortal life. Is Grindelwald after him, much like Lord Voldemort was?
We can’t wait to find out!
