One massive world tour, a nasty public break-up, a sexual assault case (where she came across as a total boss – and got justice) and total disappearance from social media later, and Taylor Swift is back.
In the middle of the night, Swifty released the first track from her new album Reputation – Look What You Made Me Do.
With a repetitive chorus you can almost hear fans chanting along to in stadiums and clever lyrics, we have a funny feeling this one’s going to be all over the radio today.
So far, we’ve got a lyric video where Taylor seems to be playing on the snake iconogrophy that’s followed her since she revealed that she had in fact co-written ex Calvin Harris’ chart-topper This Is What You Came For under a pseudonym – and Calvin fans trolled her social media with the snake emoji 🐍
Kim Kardashian also jumped on board when Taylor denied giving Kanye permission to use a rather controversial lyric about her.
And now she’s embracing the snake in her new release. Look What You Made Me Do seems Tay-Tay is continuing her trend for taking songwriting inspo from real life, and she’s pretty miffed with someone – is it Calvin? Is it Kim? Is it nobody in particular and she’s playing on it all to get us talking?
Whatever it is, it’s working.
Shake It Off it ain’t. But it’s catchy, haunting and kinda weird. We’re into it.
Check it out below.
