After a jam-packed summer, which included headlining Glastonbury’s The Other Stage and a set at Reading and Leeds, Chase and Status are ready for their first arena tour. Consistently on the hunt for fresh talent, Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status) have chosen to feature a few of the newest names in the industry on the album – the most notable of these names is Moko.
Moko features on three of the album’s tracks. Count On Me, which has recently been resounding across the airwaves, will have dance floors flooding with its catchy beat and even catchier lyrics; the perfect Friday night opener. The remaining two tracks on which Moko is featured follow suit and are likely to become anthems amid electronic enthusiasts.
The next tune that’s set to get blood flowing, and showcases the talent of Jacob Banks, is closing track Alive. Two minutes in, an interlude appears and the lyrics – ‘I feel so alive’ – are bound to have even those opposed to this genre chanting on the dance floor at the night’s end.
Other names appearing are Elli Ingram, who provides a soft emotional vocal track to Heaven Knows, and Nile Rodgers and Abigail Wyles – who bring a similar vibe to What Is Right. Those seeking a softer approach to their ears should definitely check out these tracks alongside Blk & Blu which highlights the talent of Chase and Status as a duo.
There are, however, a few tracks which spoil it. Pressure and Gangsta Boogie lack an original angle and blend in too well with the dubsteb scene. And those planning on buying the CD, don’t be surprised if there’s a parental advisory sticker slapped upon the case – Machine Gun uses some appalling language which we, at Source, have no time for…
