Throwback Thursday – 2017 Films

Hard to believe there is just over two weeks left of 2017. If you’re asking yourself where this year has gone, congratulations – you’re old. Seriously though, when did time start moving so quickly?

Anyway, 2017 has been a rollercoaster of a ride with, thankfully, fewer celebrities kicking the bucket. Looking at you here 2016. With the highs and lows, there have been some stellar cinematic releases. The world of film, drama, documentaries and cartoons have had a good old time and we’re bringing you our throwback of the best films of 2017.

Dunkirk

Not sure what shocked us more. That Cillian Murphy – you’ll know his face from Peaky Blinders – is pushing forty, 40? Or that Harry Styles is now an actor. Either way, this was a solid offering from director Christopher Nolan. Set on the beaches of Dunkirk in 1940 the tale follows British and French forces as they are strategically evacuated from the beach. It is a drama like no other and is sure to have you on the edge of your seat.

Baby Driver

This year was action packed and Baby Driver was no exception. Set to the pace of an extraordinary soundtrack, Baby uses the beat to help him as a getaway driver. After falling in love, Baby wants to get out of the crime world but there is one last mission he has to complete. An all-star cast, tunes for days and an intriguing storyline, this is a must watch.

Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot is doing it for the girls. The Wonder Woman film starts with the hero when she was an Amazonian princess and unconquerable warrior. Determined to save the world, Princess Diana discovers her true powers and transforms into Wonder Woman – a total boss who takes no funny business. If you need a new role model, look no further than Gal Gadot.

IT

Clowns seem to freak a lot of people out. After seeing IT, we can’t seem to understand why. Jokes, IT is one creepy clown causing some serious havoc in the small town of Derry, Main. Things like this never seem to happen in the big city. This clown is weirder and more sadistic than most, living as a shape shifting evil being who comes out to terrifying kids every 27 years. You might spend most of this film hiding behind the sofa.

The Last Jedi

Fair enough it’s only out today, but everyone knows this is going to be a belter. Luke Skywalker is helping out Rey as she develops her powers as the Resistance gears up to do battle with the First Order. Sure to be another action-packed addition to the Star Wars franchise – and with an appearance from the late Carrie Fisher, it is sure to be just as emotional.
