Last night saw a whole host of the UK’s favourite musicians take to the stage at Wembley to celebrate the incredibly inspiring personal achievements of some very brave teenagers. The Teen Heroes included 14-year-old Rosie who remains positive in the face of a malignant brain tumour, a young carer called Alice who was taken into foster care due to her mum’s mental health issues and Aaron who suffers from gender dysphoria, a mismatch between biological sex and gender. In a star studded event presented by Grimmy and Rita Ora, a slightly hysterical crowd cheered in support of the Teen Heroes and went wild for the brilliant acts who performed. Here are a few of them…
Demi was sassy as ever, performing Confident in a shiny black pencil skirt and bright, bold and fluffy jacket. But she’s not always been like this. The child star for Barney and Friends has been praised for speaking openly about numerous personal problems such including bulimia, bipolar and self-harm.
Little Mix were delighted to receive an ’embrace your uniqueness’ award, encouraging any fans to dress and act in a way that made them happy, never mind what anyone else thinks. They performed their Christmassy Love Me Like You in amazing sparkly outfits and big bossy black boots
Biebs made a special guest appearance to the delight of the screaming crowd, treating them to three songs including the number one hit What Do You Mean. At just 21, Justin has come full circle in the music industry from being a teen superstar to having a fall from grace after bad behaviour made his popularity plummet. You have to take your hat off to him though, he endured worldwide criticism but picked himself up and is back on stage delivering number one hits to screaming fans. We’ll forgive him for the questionable oversized denim jumper and floppy hair, for now.
Pop punk rockers All Time Low brought an avalanche of energy to the stage with their massive hit Kids in the Dark, getting the crowd bouncing with their infectious energy!
Five Seconds of Summer were the last act to perform and didn’t disappoint, quite possibly receiving the loudest screams of the evening. The Austalian boys kicked off with She Looks so Perfect and had the entire song screamed back to them.
