We are still barely processing all the news and excitement from Comic Con this weekend. But if we had to pick one highlight that stuck out, it has to be the phenomenally bad-ass trailer for the first ever Wonder Woman film starring Chris Pine and Gal Gadot. Still not sure who the leading lady is? We uncover five facts about Gal that will leave you Wondering (geddit?) how you’ve only just heard of her!
- She is Wonder Woman

Well duh! She is the first actress to portray “Diana Prince/Wonder Woman” in a live-action, theatrically-released film. Trivia fans take note: Lynda Carter only performed the role for television. Gal has said of the iconic role, ‘At the end of the day Wonder Woman is a peace seeker. But when fight arrives, she can fight. She’s a warrior and she enjoys the adrenaline of the fight.’
2. She is a beauty queen

It kinda goes without saying that Gal is an absolute knockout. So it comes as no surprise to learn that she was crowned Miss Israel in 2004 and even travelled to Ecuador to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. Before entering the competition she had actually planned to become a lawyer – and eventually went on to study law for a short time.
3. And a soldier

Yes really! From the age of 20, Gal served for two years as an enlisted soldier of the Israel Defense Forces and worked as a combat trainer. She says of her time in the army: ‘You give two or three years, and it’s not about you. You give your freedom away. You learn discipline and respect’. Turns out all that army experience has served her well in Hollywood – she did all her own stunts in the Fast & the Furious films.
4. She loves to support other women

Her Instagram is a constant stream of female empowerment and sassy quotes. And we love that she is no afraid to share her views on current issues from feminism (she recently shared her Global Goal stating what she #reallyreallywants) to World Environment Day. Her favourite woman of all? It’s only Queen Madge! When she eventually met her idol she admitted to being absolutely star struck: ‘When I was young I really liked Madonna. I ran into her a month ago and got really excited. I said to her, ‘Madonna, my queen.’ I did a bow and everything. She looked at me like I was crazy but then we talked and she was really nice.’

This Israel born actress definitely has brains AND beauty but she is also one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood. She’s a mum who loves motorbikes and models for Gucci. Oh and she’s had time to star in her very own feature film as well as making appearances in Batman V Superman and Justice League Part 1 and 2. No biggie.
