The Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) creates opportunities for students to be innovative. Through it’s free Scotland-wide activities, SIE provides a safe space to explore ideas and develop useful enterprise skills.

Many of Scotland’s most successful young entrepreneurs started their journey entering an SIE competition and have gone on to receive millions in investment and funding. People like Rebecca Pick (Pick Protection), Christopher McCann (Snap40) and Victoria Hamilton (VH Innovation). What all of them have in common is that they started with an idea that they entered into a SIE competition and now they’re able to make a difference.

SIE’s Fresh Ideas competition is running monthly until January 2017 and is looking for early-stage ideas from students at Scotland’s colleges and universities. The best entries could win up to £1000 in the competition finals in March 2017. This year there will also be additional awards for the best entries in three areas relating to Scottish Government priorities: Healthcare, Food & Drink, and the Creative Industry. Entry is online at: www.sie.ac.uk/enterfreshideas/

But where do you start? To help you find inspiration, SIE have added a new area to the SIE website. The Inspiring Impact hub has lots of information on areas with opportunities for innovation and more. You can check it out at www.sie.ac.uk.

In the last year alone, previous SIE competition winners have gone on to receive over £2million in investment and other prizes. Could you be Scotland’s next big success story?
