Here come the girls of the Celebrity Big Brother house! That’s right, girl power reigns supreme in the CBB house this year as an all female line-up entered the house for us to watch and critique their every move.
A unique start to the series saw an all female group of housemates to mark the 100th anniversary of women over 30 given the right to vote – it’s an interesting nod to history from Celebrity Big Brother.
On Tuesday (2 January) eight celebrities came to shake things up but the girls won’t be ruling the roost for long. That’s right, Friday will see the first male celebrity join the mix and we can’t wait to see how the ladies cope with their new sense of power. Let’s take a look at this year’s housemates.
Jess Impiazzi
Reality TV star
Best known for her appearance on MTV’s Ex on the Beach, this reality star is sure to mix things up. Being filmed 24 hours a day isn’t a new concept for Jess so it will be interesting to see what she gets up to in the house.
Ann Widdecombe
Former politician
Bit of an odd one to put in the house, but it seems former Conservative MPs are all for reality TV at the moment. What must Theresa May think? Ann appeared on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2010 so expect politics and a jive here or there.
Malika Haqq
Reality TV star
We’re not quite sure Malika knows what she’s getting herself into. Khloe Kardashian’s bestie is here and we hope she gives us some juicy gossip on the family. Kim K’s pal Jonathan Cheban only lasted seven days in the house before leaving so we wonder how long Malika will last.
Amanda Barrie
Actress
The oldest contestant for this year, Amanda has been on the small screen for years. She boasts a long career with roles in Holby City and Benidorm, but you’ll probably recognise her face from the cobbles of Coronation Street. If not ask your ‘rents about Amanda.
Ashley James
Model
After briefly appearing in Made in Chelsea, Ashley is more known for being a model and a DJ. Let’s hope she gets the group dancing!
Maggie Oliver
Former detective
Now here’s a housemate that will definitely take no nonsense and will have some tales to boot. The former detective is best known for helping to break up the Rochdale child-grooming ring. You’ll likely know Maggie’s story from BBC drama Three Girls last year, but we bet Maggie will have some fascinating stories for the CBB house.
Rachel Johnson
Journalist
There’s no denying that Stanley Johnson stole all our hearts on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here. The Johnson family has clearly got the reality TV show bug – Stanley’s daughter Rachel has entered the CBB house. A former editor of The Lady magazine and commentator for The Telegraph and The Big Issue we’re sure Rachel will incite some topical chatter.
India Willoughby
Newsreader
Transgender housemate India is guaranteed to bring an extra spark to the house. Having quit her presenting job in 2010, then working as Jonathan Willoughby, India returned to our screens as a host on Loose Women and is sure to raise awareness for transgender women everywhere.
You can catch Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5 every night from 9pm
